Inline Editing#54

Ability to edit a doc or sheet in the page.

This would save user’s time and make edits significantly easier than having to open a Doc every time.

Ideally the user can choose either.

Simple solution/s:

  • A button to toggle in and out of editing in the page.
  • A button to toggle an overlay for editing

V2/Advanced:

  • An enhanced YNAW-type editor that works with the GDocs API.

I would not reinvent a new editor when we can use the editor from Google Docs. I see many Wikis fail to implement editors which can be used in business, from receptionist to CEO without hassle. I think the strenght of this Wiki is the left side bar, the rest should stay 100% native Google stuff :)

Very interesting idea. Please implement. Editing a doc right now takes multiple clicks and this idea will make it easy to edit Docs

Yeah, I think intent is not to recreate editor, but like I-Frame or embed it.

Are there any updates on this idea

Any updates on embedding the Google Docs editor in an iframe?

I personally like that the Wiki data is NOT editable on the Wiki page. This eliminates the chance that an enept user may alter or delete data while viewing and scrolling around.

It’s not that hard to go to the page in Google and when you increase YNAW’s speed, this is even less of an issue.

That said, as long as it is a choice in Settings, I’m good either way.

What I would like to see is an auto-update to the Wiki page after closing the Google page just edited. Right now, we have to refresh the browser to see any edits. So in this sense, having an in-Wiki editor solves that problem.

Added a setting that you can toggle on in: Settings > Interface > Inline editing.

Once enabled you can inline edit.

Let me know if you find issues or have feedback.

Great feature but there’s a bug.

When I click view after editing inline it opens the doc in another window rather than revert the page to read online. I have to turn off Inline editing altogether to get it to revert back to read only.
