Print a wiki as PDF#553

S

It would be great if there was an option to “Print wiki as PDF”.
We have our staff handbook in YNAW. It works great. But we need to be able to send it to new employees along with their contract (our staff handbook is part of the contract).

@Simon I have a few questions about this…

  1. How do you handle this currently?
  2. Would you like this to pull in every page in the wiki into one pdf?
  3. Do you need to exclude any pages from being in the pdf?
  4. Would the page order in the pdf match the wiki order?

If you do have time for a quick chat this week or next it would be good to make sure I have a correct understanding, if not the above questions are a good start.

  1. Ask if they have a Google acccount and share the wiki with them if they do. This is a bad option and they still can’t share it with e.g. their union if they want. If they don’t have a Google account we send them a PDF of an old handbook.
  2. Yes. Although in other cases it might be better with single PDFs.
  3. No, I don’t. I could see use cases where that would be the case, though.
  4. Yes.
    Let me know if this is sufficient or you want a chat.

My ideal! Ability to PDF a node tree: either the top-level folder or just the selected folder and all below it. Sequencing and levels would follow the YNAW wiki as set up. Add a TOC that spans the node tree export, and you’ve got book publishing!
